I returned my Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro a little over a week ago due to a front focusing problem. I sent it to the authorized repair center in Georgia. I called to check on the status because I want the lens back before Christmas. The lady told me they were waiting on parts. She did not have anymore information.

Anybody have any idea what "parts" they would be replacing on a brand new lens?

True. I guess I was looking for "I returned mine with a similar problem and they replaced ???".

"Flexboards"are flexible printed circuit boards - used where the circuitry has to wrap around a non-planar surface or bridge the gap between two rigid boards.

I'm pretty sure it's the flexboard that they are waiting on.

I talked to the service lady when I sent mine in and she said waiting for the flexboard from Japan. She said the paper work that got faxed over was all in Japanese and she couldn't tell me exactly what on it in details.

But the next thing I knew, I got a brand new lens. :)

Good luck with yours. It took a little more than 3 weeks to get it back but that I was shipping ground to them and that was 7 days in transit.

Took them only 3 days to get it back to me.

8lias, ohh, it's very obvious. I had the old 24-70EX DG DF (no Macro). The zoom and the focus ring stripes are different from the Macro one. It's serial is either 1003xxx or 0003xx.

Sigma sent me a Macro one, with the black pouch instead of the old green one. Not a spec of dust on the lens or the hood. I can even smell the new plastic hahaha. It's serial is 4010527...

Crap!!!! If it takes that long I will not have it back for Christmas. I guess I should have sent it to Sigma in NY.
