In about 10 days (when we are expecting a new moon) I plan on heading on a small road trip to shoot the milky way for the first time... and am looking for a little advice.
First of all, yes, I am doing my best to avoid light pollution (hence the road trip), I was going to try Crater Lake but it was a couple hours further and I figure I'll work up to it someday.
So, I am going to a somewhat closer spot, to save some space I'll just post samples I have found taken from there and the areas close to it...(Ruby beach, point of arches, second beach - those areas)

So I am using a t2i, and have an option of 2 lenses for the shooting,
Tokina 11-16 2.8 and
Rokinon 35mm 1.4
--- I calculated with the rule of 600 (or 375 rather, for my sensor), and a stop chart, that the Rokinon is about 1/3 a stop better for more light...
Is that gonna be worth it, or should I just stick with the Tokina for the wider field of view, instead of maybe having to stitch some images in post with the Rokinon.
Also, any advice on dealing with the high noise I get from my t2is sensor? I understand DSS is a good option, but my first impression with the program was rather frustrating (user errors I assume - and I didn't really have that great of a portion of sky captured).
