I'm guessing it fits an old large format camera or enlarger?

It could also be a projector lens.

I've found a few things:

From Wikipedia:

  • 1947: The company is renamed Canon Camera Co., Inc.
  • 1969: The company's name is changed to Canon Inc.

This places the production date of the lens in question to between 1947 and 1969.

Continuing the search.......

There's a Japanese web page that has similar lenses on it.

Click on: http://ameblo.jp …etu/archive-1-200605.html (external link)

Scroll down to the second section from the bottom of the page.

Of course, you'd need to be able to read Japanese to make any sense out of the text.

i've read the blog,
i try to translate use google translate, and quote something :
=====
The lens
We have available. It is because I look suspicious lens.

Is 120mm 1:1.4 CANON LENS X.

The filter diameter is approximately 105mm, 135mm total length of the big-ass! Lens.
Heavily and heavy, chock-full glass was impressive perfect score! Is the lens.
But, the lens cap is made of cheap plastic smell is tied charm.

Before publishing program, boasting to our Akiyan? The other is there to be informed by email,
Dreadful! ! Indeed! ! Akiyan of the world! ! Amazing! ! Nantes, wooden box
It is what you have a full set. We were! ! Is hammered! !
(· · ·. Reckless but fundamentally decent to match)

X-ray is like a camera lens for Canon.
We were showing a full set of images from our Akiyan, great.
Again, junk collectors like me? It is the difference between dimension and is it after all.

This lens is not clean it, the more abnormal. Discussant and beyond can be seen.
Since no helicoid aperture also, without any moving parts, does not enter pride.
It is OK if you can spare even infinite so attached to the Nikon F mount 120mm.

This is an earlier stage a large number of lens 100mmf1.5 more went into the hand.
This is the one that the world is I do not know of our great lens.
If you buy new, will no doubt very expensive products.

Now, 45 years anniversary? This lens! ! I made a successful bid in the Yahoo auction,
The highest bid 110 yen! 850 yen shipping! Transfer fee 120 yen! What Na Na, out!

1,080 yen! ! Was an expensive lens.
==========

is that means this lens for x-ray lens?? >_< my lens cap not plastic, but steel :D
keep searching... bout this lens.. thx for helping... :D

I think you'll find details if you research "Serenar" lenses. They were originally branded as Serenar before using the Canon name. They were in a variety of sizes for different uses. If there's no diaphragm in the version you have then it's very likely for an X-ray camera.
