This is NOT the same thread as the 7D locking up during use or after the firmware upgrade!!

The issue I just started having is that the camera will lock itself in all modes except fully automatic mode. It happens 100% of the time after a day of shooting and I turn the camera off. The next day ( 5 days in a row now ) when I pull it out of the bag and turn it on, it is locked in all modes except fully auto. I mess around with it, removing batteries and the grip and all kinds of crap and sooner or later it will start working again!! This is completely unacceptable!! Has anyone else had this issue and how the heck do I get it corrected?

Thanks!

I would reset all my cameras settings and see if it still does the same thing. If it does then I would send it in to a Canon service center and have them look at it.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Have you tried shooting without the grip?

Agree, remove the grip and leave it off and see if it still happens.

And if that doesn't work, you could try a hard reset.

I would reflash the firmware, and reset all the camera settings
