I once paid $900 for a 150 MB (yes, megabyte) ESDI drive. It died one month after the warranty expired. Grrr.

I remember when a 200mb + IDE cost a fortune. We used to run a pair of 40mb MFM boat anchors in our 386 BBS machine before we "upgraded" to a 170mb IDE drive. We were so effin' proud of that thing.

A few years ago my Dad paid $60 for a 500mb flash drive. HA. By the time I was old enough to get the hang of flash drives and such, they were cheap enough not to break my bank.

I think the highest price per byte for me was the 20Mb full-height hard drive I bought for my IBM XT. I bought the drive used for $200. And, that was a good deal. I bought it from a friend, so he gave me a break on the price...

For my first PC which had a whopping 4MB of RAM I decided to double this and bought 4MB of used RAM for £80 (approx $120).

I am wayyyyy old and used to work for Radio shack. I remember selling 10mb external hard drives for $399 plus tax and people were buying them like candy. Oh and those were for the 4.77 hz (not mega not giga, just plain ole hz) Tandy 1000 that was like 1900 bones... hahaha
