I got one before too but my friend kept bugging me to sell it to him and I finally gave up. Now I regret to do that.

I had one until a month ago and I dropped it and it died! Was insured through State Farm so I added a little money and replaced it with a refurbished 60D. If I hadn't dropped it, I would have kept it until it died on its own. Great camera!

They're good cameras. Put some L glass on it and you will be impressed. Don't get it wet!

Mine has been wet a few times and I have had no problems.

Now that you've moved to the 60 are you missing the 40? I'm trying to figure out if I want to sell my 40 and get a 60.

I had a difficult time deciding which Canon DSLR I wanted to start with. Shot a lot of film, but couldn't afford a 7D that I would like to have. After looking at a lot posts - you would be surprised to see how many professionals are using a 40D as a backup. That sold me and I am thrilled with my 40D. In short - enjoy your 40D it is a great camera.

MY first DSLR and I loved it. Gave it to my stepdaughter for college as she's going into photo journalism. I killed two shutters on it. Solid workhorse it was. I miss it.

My girlfriend has a T3i and while it's images are a little sharper and it's ISO performance is a million times better than the 40D, the 40Ds AF is far better and the handling is a million times better as well. I love my 40D with the Tamron and my YN flash. So much fun to use!

I miss the ISO capabilities of my old T2i sometimes but I'm happy I went to the 40D.
