Mine was only $325, I don't see how anyone can have trouble justifying that!

It's a good enough camera, I couldn't see spending the extra money to jump up to a 60D. It's reasonably fast and I typically keep the 17-50/2.8 or the 70-200/2.8 on it. Great combo! My Gear List

Jul 18, 2012 04:06 | #40 Well I finally got it...and I'd love it...if the battery wouldn't stop dying. Looks like either the battery is really old, or I just haven't charged it long enough (thought an hour would be enough just to play with it a bit, but after about 10 minutes it died again). Any idea where I can get some really cheap BP-511A batteries (Canon or aftermarket?)

I got it with a 55-250mm for less than $500 total. Seemed like a good deal, hoping to love this camera. I've always wanted one! Any advice, 40D users!? I bet your wife doesn't believe you "accidentally" bought it for even a second. "There are some things that money can't buy, but they aren't Ls and aren't worth having" -- Shooter-boy

It DOES! LOL. Actually, I find the 40D + Tamron 17-50 F/2.8 to be quite a fantastic combo. Calling me a photographer is like calling Jeffrey Dahmer a chef.
