That the DSLR is dead, everything will be mirrorless with a new mount. ;)

Could be the mirrorless camera, I'm sure they will jump on that bandwagon. Might be the 70D and/or the 200-400 like they said.

Mirrorless is a big possibility. 70D is coming I'm sure. Also that video-focused DSLR that's been rumoured. Could that be the 70D? Or will it be a new model line?

Hopefully a couple of lenses!

Mirrorless has been talked about having a July date for awhile now. Lots of speculation that it is sure to disappoint.

Probably a consumer-grade mirrorless system, and finally shipping the elusive EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x lens. Remember, Photokina is just around the corner in ~2 months!

Oh, I know exactly what they'll announce:

Something overpriced.

Unfortunately I feel the same. I wish Canon would realise the world is in ressession. Whilst most people expect a hike in the price of a newer model, what Canon has been doing lately with their pricing is ridiculous. While the NEX7, X Pro1 and OM-D are snapping at the DSLR's heels Canon better watch out they don't lose out heavily to that market.
I just read a magazine ad, 5Diii, 24-70ii, flash and grip came to £6300 ??? I'd like to see head to head comparisons of this set up, v one of the afore mentioned..........

I think they are very aware of exactly where they are positioned in the market. That Canon 5DmkIII while overpriced for my needs is flying off shelves just as fast as they can make them. Their goal isn't to maximize the number of cameras they sell. It is to maximize profits and the two aren't exactly the same thing. Selling twice the cameras at half the profit would not be a wash as they would still have twice the overhead in service and manufacturing.

My guess is that we're rapidly approaching a point where any major breakthroughs that will make people want to upgrade from the next round of cameras are going to take a lot more money than previous improvements. Cameras are getting to that point of "good enough to do what I need" and there is less drive to upgrade already. The megapixel race, while not over, is winding down. More MP are really going to be a specialty item and not critical unless lenses can be made with drastic improvements in resolution so you can crop drastically and still get superb sharpness. Higher ISO and dynamic range are the next battlefields and major improvements there will cost more than simply increasing the number of pixels.

So they are making every dollar they can now to make sure they have the capital to make these investments in improved technology. Nikon on the other hand seems to be playing a shorter game. It's going to be interesting to see how the camera market of 2020 plays out.

I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.
