I'm fairly inexperienced and I don't have the arrogance or the ability to think that I'm going to be competing with the professionals but I'm really beginning to enjoy photography and I've gotten a lot better very quickly.

Two of my four initial test submissions failed and in hindsight, I completely understand why. I was more careful with the second batch and passed them all through. I'll continue to try to increase the size of my portfolio and hope that I have something of some commercial value that might generate a sale but, if nothing else, it's motivation to continue to shoot photos and to improve my skills.

I tried to link "My Alamy" to this post but I'm not sure if I do that in the body of the message or in my signature so I won't show my initial submissions. I suppose if anyone was truly curious they could figure it out. ;)

^congrats bud!
it definitely motivates you to take more pictures and improve your skills.
I failed my first attempt and haven't re-applied as I'm in no rush and slowly realizing that I still have room for improvements.
might try once again later this month.

Thanks. The truth is that I've been thinking and talking about doing this for months and I slow played it too until I thought I had a decent number of high quality photos.

Another question, because my "high quality photos" probably number in the dozens, maybe the hundreds, rather than the thousands that many better/more experienced photographers have, I'm curious about submissions. Let's say for the sake of argument that I had a really productive shoot one day shooting pictures of frogs, or pink lady's slippers, or scenes around a carousel or any number of other subjects. How many submissions from that shoot do most of you submit? One per subject/shoot? The best two or three but only if they're outstanding? Obviously I don't want 20 pictures of the same subject and almost nothing else in my library but I'm curious what most of you who are on Alamy or other sites do.
