I don't get the appeal of them, honestly. Sure, coupled with a short lens it could be a fairly compact and reasonable high-quality camera, but we'll always be talking smaller sensors, slow AF, composing images by holding the damn thing three feet in front of you...

If mirrorless systems were inexpensive, I could see the appeal - a steppingstone to a big SLR - but these things aren't much smaller than a Rebel-sized cam. The only thing you're getting is a lack of clunk noise since there's no mirror to flip.

I guess I just think something like the G1X is a better value for the versatility.

Smaller sensors? APS-C isn't exactly small...

It's for those casual shooters who go out and buy T3's and never leave greenbox mode... or... for someone who has a good set of lenses and just want's something less bulky than a pro body for casual shooting.

I'd love a mirrorless to slot in between my 7D and S95.

But do you think it'll really be easier to carry and use? It certainly won't be as fast for spur of the moment shooting (liveview and all that) but if you're already carrying around a full size lens, what's half a pound of weight? Maybe a little more if it's a mag bodied cam or something.

Edit: Good time to say that I've never shot with a mirrorless cam before, but with other systems of a similar size.

Seriously, that's legit? I didn't realize Canon could take a hint.

They can take a hint if its beaten into their heads for 5+ years.

If it's priced right and the EF adapter is good... it could be a good little camera...

Mirrorless + 70-200 F2.8 II anyone?

Id use a mirrorless + 70-200 II + 2x extender all day long. :p:p:p

Or replace the s95 outright. ;)
