So I am thinking I should order Nikon lens caps and a nikon D800 neck strap for my 5D3. heh.

Thought this was a joke at first. I'm sure it's still over a wood frame. Go to your local hardware store and buy some sawtooth hangers. 2-3 for a large frame should be sufficient. I'm assuming it's not more than 10 pounds

Aesthetics is part of it, just look at the popularity of Leica and some of the Fuji cameras. If Canon releases that ugly thing it will drop in price just as fast as the Nikon 1 camera's did.

I suppose they don't want to compete with those cameras or look like copycats, but they could make it look like the AE-1 or whatever it was.
