There was 85 layers on me alone I believe. I even dodge/burned the hat.

You can see a shine that strobes create, and there was no flash involved. It's crude but shows the point.

Btw there were no shadows whatsoever on my shirt at all or under my chin. All added through the process. I never ended up finishing that mess around pic above because I got too busy.

No I do not have the original anymore.

Ohhhh, ok I was getting confused because I thought you meant you changed focus each time. But instead you just mess around with the lighting a LOT in PS?

Almost looks like HDR without the HDR software.

That's why a lot of people think you do the method with HDR. You don't. It's all hand crafted.

Now add crazy background, some lens flare, some Dodged/blur lines show light streaks and you're there.

Ok, just re-read your statement and it made a lot more sense.

I was getting confused because I know the guy uses multiple pictures to do so. I gotta eventually experiment one day with it and strobes as well! There's a guy on flickr who did something of that nature.. lemme see if I can find it.

I do my best. I like that hat.

Julian, I've actually had about 20 people contact me wanting to know that editing method, half of them offered a decent amount of money.

You know how it goes, time is money.

Honestly, if you're into people...lighting will make your pictures more insane than a lens will and editing techniques.

Invest in elinchrom.

Well I like natural light and the look it gives. Maybe I should just skip out on the 85 1.8G then and just use that towards another AB (no point getting elinchrom if I don't know how to use the light :p)

This was the guy Iwas talking about

He uses high pass too aggressively (you can tell by the whites) His sun beams look like crap, other than that he's getting there.

God keep the 85 f/1.8G it's awesome. You might not like it as much as the canon variant though. Btw natural light can be faked ten times over and with more control.

I know, I know, I guess I just need to learn how to use flash appropriately. It would help if I had a bit more money to invest in some stands and more lights, but for natural light the lens really does help or so I've seen. I mean personally I'm not really into the really processed look, it looks cool but I just don't think it's my style.

Fake light gradual.

His intensity but without the smoothness.

It honestly looks like he made a line horizontally, vertically and diagnoally and put motion blur at 15 percent opac.
