Micro 4/3 sensors are extremely tiny and much, much smaller than APS-C sensors. f0.95 on a 35mm sensor gives you insanely shallow DOF and even on APS-C you're getting good isolation but on a m4/3 sensor the you don't get as much of the shallow effect. The OM-D + 75mm f1.8 lens for example produces some nice DOF but compared to say a 135 f2 on a D800 or 5D2/3 the bokeh will be harsher and more busy with more DOF.

M9's just eat up those kinds of lenses though you need a 4 or 8-stop ND just to shoot it wide open during the day :)

Oh, gotcha! I thought you meant that the 50 on the M9's FF would act like a 50 f/4 lens which kinda had me dumbfounded.

Out of the 50 or so shots I took this week, here's basically the only one I like

I kinda just took... no inspiration from anything so I guess it shows ahaha

m4/3's aren't bad these days but the sensor size really affects isolation of subjects so you can find samples of the Noktor 50mm f0.95 which looks more like f4-f5.6 on a FF sensor.

One must understand it's limitations. Especially, using adapted lenses.

If you're adapting lenses I'd say go Fuji as it's at least APS-C but even then better to suit it on the native camera :) I like the Fuji because as I build my Leica collection up I can eventually just add an M9 or M10 and swap between both systems without so much as a hiccup!

I like your plan but, what made you pick Fuji over Oly's OM?

Fuji is just so expensive... If i was going 4/3 I'd go EOS-M right now... strictly because of the ability to use EF lenses with little issue.

Though I'm holding out for full reviews before making my decision.

Im going to meet a few people from work for drinks and such, but we're going at 5 and I think the plan was to be on the patio at the place we're going.

It's like 105F out... Ugh.

Hehe, it's actually quite nice. I'm still getting used to it and I need another lens for it, but I'm impressed with the DR and how I can actually see the sky in the photos

But I think I spent too much time shooting with technicalities this past few days vs. enjoying myself and shooting artistically if you know waht I mean?

A few things

1. APS-C sensor. X-Trans has the resolving power of a 24mp 35mm sensor so detail is great.
2. Lenses. The fact I can drop some Leica glass on it with a 1.5x focal length increase is similar to that of an M8 vs the Oly's 2.0. The Fuji 35mm f1.4 is also stellar.
3. RF styling. When you set the Fuji down and grab a Leica M you're not fumbling everywhere for things. The styling is very similar though Leica has better menu/layout.
4. OVF. What can I say I love the OVF and the fact I can frame my scene without having to really look right through the lens. I use the EVF to really dial in focus on shots with MF lenses but zone focusing and the OVF is fantastic.

I agree that the Fuji is definitely priced a bit higher than the other options but for $1700 on a camera that beats the piss IQ wise out of my old 7D which cost me the same when I bought it... worth it imo :)

Yes! I was more concerned more so with just seeing how the camera handled... I have a photoshoot tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday so I can REALLY test out the camera then ;)

 It's annoying! Because I knew Canon never had a good sensor I just never bothered with trying to test it out  but Nikon is a different game. I'm hoping I will like the results from shooting portraits with it.
