Saw this Northern Flicker chick waiting to feed. I initially set up too close initially and the parents would not come to the nest; just flew around chattering. So I moved back. And along they came!

Also note the smaller pushy chick in one of the images!

ONE - one of the chicks checking for food

TWO - the male delivering food to the nest

THREE - chick pushing out!

FOUR - chick still pushing

FIVE

SIX - the female delivering food to the nest

What wonderful behavioral captures Sue. The bonus is the cutest of the series, Mama looking out for her mate.

I meant to write male. Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly you are saying to me, I am not sure of.

no, no ... just indicating that she seems to have two males and/or mates. I wondered if this is normal for these birds. There was no aggression between the two males ... it was interesting to see.

Oh, so one man is not enough for her! ;)
I've never seen such a thing. I hope others who know what they speak of chime in. This is interesting. Thanks for responding.

The first one in the hole is one of this years hatch and the other two are his parents. The youngster is a male and the adult without the mustache is his momma. The other is poppa.
