My wife and I went on vacation in Colorado last week and although most of these shots were done road side, I enjoyed it. I hope to go out there in the fall for a long weekend of just photography, but we will see. All shot using 5dMarkII, 24-105, no filters, pp in lightroom. I would appreciate any C&C you have. Thanks!

The last shot and the one you just posted are my favorite. The others are very good as well.

I've been shooting Colorado for a few years now (only had a DSLR recently), and I never tire of it. Be sure to get back out here when you can spend some time with your photography, it will be a rewarding experience! :)

Just out of curiousity... do you recognize any of the mountains?

I'm going to guess the Collegiate Peaks based mostly on the size/type of the trees and shrubs. :) Second guess is somewhere around RMNP. Love the mountain shots. :)

Glad you enjoyed your visit here. Every single day I see something that makes me say "Wow!" and be thankful for two eyes.

Two recommendations for fall photography around here:

1. Pick a week day instead of weekend to go shooting to weed out the weekend snappers.

2. Drive something that will get you back into the forest roads for some amazing scenery. Sometimes just a mile off the main highway will get you to a place you can't see anything made by humans. Make sure you have a 3 day survival kit and notify someone reliable where you'll be and when you'll be back. :)

If you have the time note how fast the weather and lighting change up here (we live at 8500 ft). Sometimes just a few minutes can really alter the feel of an image. It's hard to do that from roadside but a little easier if you're back in the woods a bit.

Peace!
Carl

Those were my favorites as well, although all are great shots!

I love Colorado and never tire of rambling around the backroads and Jeep trails. I think the Ouray area is my favorite. The shot of the lake almost reminds me of the Yankee Boy Basin area.

Close on the Collegiate Peaks... image 8 is just down the road towards Salida from Mt. Princeton. Pretty sure it is Mt. Shavano.

The smaller one with blue skies is Little Baldy, near Fairplay.

The reflection without trees is at the top of Independence Pass.

The lake is Kite Lake at the base of Mt. Democrat.

And the B&W is Mt. Elbert, next to Twin Lakes.

I love photos that the vast wilderness we have in Colorado. Great shots!
The reflection and composition in #2 are great!
I really like #4, but the shadow line bothers me a bit. I would try to darken the light part.
As for #8, I never tire of the scenery around Salida.
Looks like you took a nice drive.

We were in the same area in May. My photos are a little different though as Kite Lake was frozen and there was still a bunch of snow at Independence Pass.
