BG-EII strap mount rattle

I used a 5D III for the first time today and I noticed that the metal post that serves as the strap mounting point on the BG-EII isn't hard fixed, it has a little play and actually rattles a bit. I thought that was odd, don't think I'd seen that before with any other Canon grips before. Anyone else notice that, is it the usual or was it just that grip?

I'm sure it's still secure and that with a strap mounted it would be silent, just curious.

yes in all the canon grips I have, that stainless steel bar in the base of the grip does have a bit of play

Interesting, thanks for the info. If it has some play then it will probably make a bit of rattle noise. Just thought it was odd, can't ever recall my EOS 3 doing it and my 1D2 didn't so I wasn't sure. Admittedly I haven't used any of the other Canon grips aside from a couple other 1 series bodies previously.

I'm at work so I can't check, but I thought mine behaved like a bearing. Meaning that it's free rotating in a circular manner. If so, I would think it would reduce strap wear instead of having the strap pulling on a static object.
