Hello. Before I pull the trigger in buying the G1X, i would like to ask anyone who might have experiences with the camera and its issues. I would also want to know what your experiences are in terms of taking pictures in low light setting. I heard that the pictures taken in low light scenes are pretty clean up to ISO 1600.

Your comments and inputs are very much appreciated.

I shot indoors yesterday at 3200, RAW, all day long. I processed these to JPEGS in DPP but didn't change any of the noise reduction levels. Very happy with the results. I haven't had any issues with the camera. The Apollo 11 suit was taken behind glass. The bottom photo I included to show you how it handles blown out spots. Using it in the field, it is a much different experience than with an SLR. Much slower user interface, things that have quick access in an SLR, down in a menu, etc. But once you learn the camera, it produces pretty sweet photos! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, that is really clean for ISO 3200 especially the black background.

I have been hearing this issue about light leak.

Remember, these were taken in RAW, I moved the left bar on the histrogram in post and upped the contrast just a bit, to get the black, darker.

Not sure if this is reliable or it speaks for all the G1x's that came out. I hope this is only a random occurrence.

So far, the samples above make the G1X really appealing to buy.

Ok I read that before buying my G1X and more or less chose to ignore it because the phenomenon appears under extreme shooting conditions in certain shooting conditions.

You have be shooting that extreme exposure and in those conditions to see the issue.

Even that article states they have not see the issue show up in any real world shots.

I've had my G1X for about a month now, and I haven't seen any issues other than USER ERROR! :o

Assuming that it's a similar menu to the G12, press the Function button and scroll down to find RAW/JPEG/etc. Press the right/left arrow to select what you want.

There's a snapshot of the menu here:
