Trail runner ...

Andrew is a trail runner, and successful obstacle course racer - we wanted to get a series of portraits he could use as promo shots when he enters races and race series. He ideally wanted a series of different styles and edits to pick from.

like 2 and 3 (2 is my favorite), 4 has a nice edge to it

I really like #1, i just wish he wasn't staring so straight into the camera.

I'm curious, how would you change it? Where would you have him look? I asked him to look right at me because I really liked how intense his eyes were - and I can't visualize how it would look "better"

You are right, they are very intense. My first impression (as an amateur, so take it with a grain of salt) is that his expression feels empty. Intense eyes, but vacant. I don't know if I would feel different if I was seeing more color in his eyes and less of the flash/reflection?

i'm a weekend warrior myself - I'll play around this evening and see how it looks if I brighten up the eyes a bit - thanks for the feedback!
