Biodan,

My 1dmk3 required alot of MA. This is why it went back to Canon. From mirror assembly replacement to "inspection". They deemed it good to go. I will say they fixed the focus issue.

The 1dmk3's holding its own for bells and whistles. It lacks video and megapixels but function wise its still very good.

The image quality was something I found to lack though. Some call me crazy but I was extremely pleased to trade in my 1dmk3 and purchase a second 5dmk2. Mileage may vary for every 1dmk3 user. I tried real hard to like it.

First shots with my new camera...I think I need to MFA. So far I like it.

The two bird photos look tack sharp to me!

The coyote seems like you cropped it a great deal.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

Yes on the coyote...I was up on a bluff and he was on the level ground below, I would guess fifty feet high and fifty feet out. I was using my 300 f4l IS, I guess he was just beyond the limit of the lens. Thanks for commenting.

I received my 1dmkIII... all I can say is OMG! This is my first fully professional body and I love the feel of it. Wouldn't you know it...a cloudy day...completely overcast...here in Southern California. I'm taking it to work anyway and hope it clears by this afternoon.

Thanks everyone for a lively thread.

NOPE - next time, you put that thing in the rain!

Since I've traded the camera instead of selling to a potn/fm member I dont have any reason to hold back my personal truths/experiences about the body. I'd perhaps hold back if I knew a purchaser reading my comments on a public forum about a camera I've sold.

If I knew that's how you felt about the camera then I wouldn't have bought it from you! Thanks a lot!

Just kidding...

(no, I never bought a camera from him. The above was for humor value only. Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited. Contents may have settled during transit)

I have a 1D Mark III with 128K actuations. Just had it cleaned by Canon. It is in good shape. What would be a fair price for this camera? It is in great shape... Some wear on the outside but is fast and easy to use.

This is tough for comment in this forum, because it can affect the value of all of our bodies!

So, you should probably be able to get well over $2000 for it

YMMV but I got a pristine copy on ebay with 9K shots on it, with extra Canon battery and original box for under $1500

Ultimately it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Yeah, mine has 75K shots and paint rubbed off around one lug. $1200.

The $2k+ was a joke ;)

I don't know how you'd stay under 10K shots with this fast firing beast.

Previous owner said it was a backup, didn't get much use

As for cropping ability, yeah, it's not as great as with other cameras that have larger MP counts, but it's not terrible. This is a 4.5 megapixel of the original. I've included the original as well.
