Hello,

I was wondering how much more size (diameter?) the IS system adds to the non IS version of the lens?

Would anyone happen to have a shot of both of them side by side?

thanks for the info

This may help you out: http://www.the-digital-picture.com ….8-L-USM-Lens-Review.aspx (external link)

It looks like it's just a little heavier.

thanks for that link!

Can't afford the 2.8 IS version yet. Was looking at the f4 IS
but was thinking that I may have to get another bag so I could
fit the IS lens in there...

Very little difference in size. I sent my non IS f4 back to B&H after about 30 days and got the IS version. Best move I ever made.

This should help you as far as size goes, not much difference, but weight will be more:

I have the IS version and really like it except the IS is really noisy. I debated a long time between IS and non-IS and have no regrets. Great lens.
