I am searching for a 2T working HDD to pair with OS SSD.

Is there a better deal than Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive for $119 with free shipping at Newegg?

Thanks for your help!

Green is power saving, not performance. Go for black.

it's actually $99 with the promo code on the page for the hard drive

Black box thingy with lots of buttons and a round tube sticking out with some glass on the ends and it keeps making this "click" sound over and over and over and over and over.

Thanks Tim. Does the black version really worth it with the double price (~$200)?

Suggest you look at benchmarks. I wouldn't use green in anything performance sensitive.

I use 2TB WD Caviar Black as storage for my photos. I've got a total of 9 of them. :)
I recently bought a few SSD drives for the OS + App drive.

I agree with Tim. I would recommend not going with Green drives, especially if you are using these internally. I think if you are housing them in USB 2.0 enclosures, then they are OK since you've already got a bottleneck with USB 2.0 speeds.

The WD Green drives are slow, I know, I've got around 20 of the 2TB models...

My choice-of-the-day is the Seagate ST3000DM001. 3TB on 3 platters for about $150.

When looking at HDDs, I don't tend to look for the cheapest price. I tend to look for the best drive on the market for my particular application, then the best price for that particular drive. I usually go for an "Enterprise Quality" drive. WD, Seagate and Hitachi all have 3TB drives that fulfill those requirements.

Is there anything or anywhere that has better deal than this? It comes with FREE shipping and no tax. I searched Mr Rebate but there is nothing through them.

Yup, 8 of them. I have 2 in my PC. 1 is for my wedding photography stuff. The other for my other photography. I have 2 additional backup drives for each...so that's 2 + 4 = 6. I use the other 2 for misc storage like movies, music, etc. There's 8 right there!

I have a USB 3.0 drive dock that I use when I run backups!

I've got a few of these. They're a lot better than the WD Green drives, but I still prefer the Seagate drives I mentioned earlier because they run much cooler and perform about the same.
