I agree on both points mentioned above: the DOF - I wish all of the brushes were in focus, and cropped too tightly: I don't like how some of the bristles are cut off. I also wonder how else you could have positioned them, or what other background you could have had, that may have made this more interesting.

I think an abstract behind it......with a separation light on the brushes might have looked nice...

Composition is off..brush in the foreground is OOF.I get the concept, but maybe fanning the brushes out( like a fan) with colors on the bristles, just the tips( rainbow perhaps?) would be cool?

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

These are not easy shots to create. Why? Because placement and statement is everything. I could spend several weeks on this kind of image just to explore the multitude of variation possible from color relationships to brush relationships to placement of light and visual context.

Thanks for all the critiques guys, I really appreciate it. You guys are great.

I tried to recreate the shot to try some changes you guys suggested, but I, for the life of me, could not recreate a brush arrangement that looked aesthetically pleasing. In the initial shot, the brushes were already in that arrangement in my wifes box so I took the opportunity to shoot it. I tried and tried to reset them all back up but they just kept falling and rolling around everywhere. Maybe I'll get a piece of styrofoam and try to arrange them in it.

I wanted some DOF amongst the brushes because I felt w/out any the whole shot would just look cluttered (especially w/ identical textures crowding such a small space). I just thought the DOF would help it.

I will try to recreate the shot (or as similar as possible) and take your suggestions to heart to re-upload.

It's funny wife loves it in it's current state (I guess that's all that truly matters) and just cant understand why I am looking to improve it. It's all about growth.
