here is one from a recent engagement shoot i did - i tried some split toning which i dont ever do but i think it worked on this shot any comments critiques are welcomed.

lighting was a single 430 EX softboxed high camera right full power

ALSO - I am not happy at how this image is displaying in facebook can anyone help me get it to display nicer? here is the FBook link to it. It looks compressed or not as clean as the original.

I like the composition but the background is far too bright / washed out.

I am still looking for any feedback in this shot, I am getting a lot of views with no input so I am worried that the image is not interesting enough. I was looking to hear if the skin tones looked ok with this PP or any lighting changes I should have made.

Vk2gwk- the background is blown out because the sky was uninteresting and the background in general was pretty busy, I tried to expose for the look modern look on the concrete surface they where next to

I'm not a huge fan of the huge space in between them.

I'll agree with emelvee...

With an engagement shot, you want to show the connection and love between them. In this case, they are leaning away from each other (maximizing the space between them between the concrete barriers) and have a palm tree splitting them up. Their feet are pointing away from each other with the raised foot pose. Finally, the has two leading lines--the diagonals that go to the top of the frame--which are interesting, but don't do anything to connect the couple.

You chose an interesting location, their clothes are appropriate and comfortable for the setting, and there are lots of opportunities here. I think this one doesn't work well, but there are many other angles/poses that could bring them together nicely.

70-200L, 28-70L, 24-105L, 300L, 50, 10-17 fish, 2.0x TC
Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

I think that cpam.pix covered most of my thoughts. The only things that I would add is to possibly set up the shot (if possible - don't know since I don't know the location) where you are shooting more from the left. This would allow the viewer to not see the boat in the background and also appear to bring them closer together. Really a "nit pick" but I assume to asked them to put their right foot against the wall. If you had her with her right and him with his left I think I would like it better and it would get rid of the wrinkles in his shorts.

thanks for the feedback, I did manage to capture many other shots that where more traditional in nature. I showed this one because I liked how the lighting worked and a new PP for me.

does anyone know how to properly display images on FB? they look horrible on my page :(

Re: FB - resize to 800 or 900 on the longest side before uploading to be sure FB doesn't resize for you. Save at maximum quality. That's about all you can do.

Agree with cpam 100%. Skin tones look OK to me though.
