Hi all , need your sage advice on this one. I currently have a 5DC and a 50D. I shoot mostly portraits and birds, wildlife on weekends. I love both cameras , love the IQ and simplicity of a 5DC , and the AF and shutter speed of the 50D.

Having said that, im just checking to see if i can consolidate those 2 bodies in one ( without spending money , in terms of just a trade ). What would be a good body that has FF IQ and the AF intelligence ? Would a 1DsMKII be a good candidate ?

I will keep both. Croppers have a lot with birds.

thats a good point. 1Ds is a FF and that would give me looser angles with birds . What about the 1DS mk2 's IQ. Is it similar or better than a 5Dc?

From what I see 5dc is little better but AF on 1dsmk2 is better.

D700 is your cheapest option other than a 1DsII, which is getting quite long in the tooth.

Either that or spring for the 5D3!

Pretty impressive AF points on that body ( 51 points ). 5DIII is an amazing body as well.
If money wasn't an object , i would ideally have a 5D MK3 and a 1DX. But being that it is, im just thinking of a body that i can afford if i do sell my 50D and 5DC.

If you get it, let me know how you like it. Thinking hard about a 1ds2 myself

There's somethin' about the files from the 1DsMKII that I really like and with good glass it really shines.

Ive seen a lot of sample pics and they're great, but the 5DC is no slouch in the IQ department either.

Basically, i use the 5D for portraits and stills , and the 50D takes care of anything that moves.

happydaze - still thinking about it. But will do.
