canon 50mm best for portability?

are the canon 50mm lenses (not macro) the smallest lenses i could get? need some confirmation, or perhaps there is something out there im overlooking. i want to be able to take my camera anywhere i go, considering my dslr is big enough.

and are there any form fitting cases that fit that and the camera exactly (whichever the smallest lens would be)?

I have a 10D and put the 50mm 1.4 on it in a holster bag. I have the Lowepro and that is small and portable. I adjust my bag so I can put an extra battery and card, and that's it.

yea was looking at that EH-17L case. i dont want any slack inside the case, want it tight with my camera and a 50 on it, any bigger would totally defeat its purpose

The 35 f/2's about the same size-wise as the 50 f/1.8, and falls right between the two 50s in weight.

man those canon 35s are hard to find. whats the price on those, probably not going to be cheap

nevermind found one, at that price i rather get a 1.4usm 50mm

Are we looking at the same 35 f/2? Not the 35 f/1.4. The 35 f/2's about a hundred less than the 50 f/1.4 at B&H.
