This is the second time for me to put a post about this lens. It's really nice. I have been waiting for it from canon refurbished store, but I really can't see the hope. However from canon pricewatch, it shows that even for a new lens, it had been sold at $1399 several weeks ago, which is $200 cheaper than the current price. Is it going to happen again in the near future?

I think you'll see more used ones available once the new mark II version starts shipping. I, for one, am holding onto my mark I version until the new one arrives, and then I'll be selling mine. Many people are probably doing the same thing. If you're not in a huge hurry, you might get a bargain that way.

Thanks. The mark II has been delayed again and again. I am kind of impatient.

As the II was at a price point way higher than the MK1 when announced, the MK1 prices have shot up. if you look at some listings for used MK1 lenses from 4-5 months back you will see just how cheap they were vs what people are asking now. At the point of what people are asking for used now, I am really considering the Tamron with VC. Just have to come up with the $1,200. lol
