Ive been searching around on the forum for creative ideas and examples for the use of a single speed-light. I have looked at almost every post in the single "strobe" thread, and there are hundreds of great ideas. I felt though, that studio strobes heavily outweigh the average speed-light in terms of photos posted. I don't own studio strobes and probably will not anytime in the near future, all I have is a single 430exII...if anyone else is in a similar situation and wants to share a few photos using only a SINGLE SPEED-LIGHT, I'd be interested to see them, as I'm sure others on the forum would too.

If there is already a thread where I can check this type of thing out, can someone post a link please. I will look through my photos to see if I have anything worth posting, but for now, someone else may have to post the first photo.....Thanks!

Yeah, I actually wanted to kill more ambient, but the white cabinets behind ME reflected the flash back towards the back of the garage. Oh well, worked out nice, I think.

If its on camera then bouncing is going to be your friend.
Off camera then its just a smaller, less powerful strobe compared to a studio light.

If you want to get some experience with off camera flash play with the ability of your 7D to fire your 430EXII via the wireless option.

The wireless function works great, putting the flash on a stand and bouncing off or thru an umbrella. Add to it a 5-in-1 reflector and you're on your way.

Not sure about creative as such, but all of these were taken with a single speedlight:

And a stupid one to finish off..

Get it off camera with a cheap light stand and brolly holder, pickup or make a few mods and maybe a home made reflector (crumple up some tin foil then flatten it out and stick it onto card) and the world is almost your oyster :)

All shot with a single 580exII in varying softboxes and umbrellas:

As the poster said in the OP, he's seen everything in there but quite a lot are using studio strobes, this thread is purely about speedlights.
