Thought that I would throw in one of mine to the mix. This is a single speed light in a shoot through umbrella with a reflector below (clam shell lighting). EXIF intact.

QUOTED IMAGE

just WOW. Are you shooting a full frame camera? For anyone who's using a crop sensor...is this kind of color POSSIBLE?

I've been shooting raw and paying a lot of attention to exposure/metering..

Maybe it's just my processing skills (LR4), but I feel like this quality image isn't possible with my T1i.... am I wrong?

Please feel free to look at my galleries in my sig.........there's just something a little artificial looking in my portraits in my opinion. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Took this one last night. Speedlight on a bracket with Lumiquest ProMax white bounce card and diffuser, f1.4 and a 2-second exposure for the background lights.

hmm...so you had him stand really really still for 2 seconds? I can see some blurring of his hair, but the rest of his face look sharp :) You must have been using an 85mm+ lens or the tree was really far away for the bokeh circles to be that big.

Getting in practice for when my daughter has an attention span long enough to sit.

I can say this now... yes, I am shooting full frame. I just got a 5d2 a few weeks ago and have been playing. It has been fun. It mates up with the Sigma 70-200 very nicely. Better than on my 60D. As for pics, yours look very nice. I dont know jack about post processing. All my pics get just basic settings, exposure, contast, clarity, NR and maybe a little sharpening. Still have a lot to learn when LR and Photoshop.

It was really dark in the room except for the Christmas lights on the tree. So the flash effectively froze him, with a little motion blur around the edges. I was working in a small space. So not a lot of distance between him and the tree, but you're right that I was using the 85L.

RVP-Neutral pic style ...

Where does one get the RVP-Neutral picture style? I like the bold colors.

I don't remember where I got the picture style, but you can try googling it, the file name is RVP-100F(Neutral).pf2
A quick googling, brings me this address http://www.edgeinterior.com/ps/ (external link) with some picture style including the RVP Neutral, I tried to download the file and the downloaded file is the same to the file that I have
I hope it is not against the forum rules to post this link, otherwise I'll remove it

The question the link does raise is copyright infringement.

These picture styles appear to be the intellectual property of Edge.

Downloading them from their server without permission and using them is potentially a violation. Of course it can also be argued that by having them on an unsecured area of their server implies public domain right to use.

Not sure how creative this is.. :)

I was happy with the results. Not too much time to set up, but I got the balancing of the flash / ambient I wanted! You can't say that happens too often.. ;)

Natural light from the windows camera right, Nissin Di622 mkII on top of camera bounced to wall camera left.
