Not bad.
I'd say that the colors of both the hoodie and the tree are pulling the image to the "cool" side of the spectrum. Try warming it up a little - I think it would do wonders for his skin tone and the image overall.

Keep shooting!

To show your photo instead of a link, when editing your post use the second icon from the right and paste the link to Flickr in the pop up window.
You get the right link to Flickr by going to "view all sizes" and select the size 1024x.... Then rightclick on the blue "Download the Large 1024 size of this photo" and select copy shortcut - then paste this in the pop up window.
Like this:

HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Redirected to error image by FLICKR

I like the composition. Focus and exposure are OK and the "cool" look looks cool to me :)

I think you have a cool shot - nicely captured the "guy" look. Maybe sharpen this image though.

the "cool" look doesn't work for me on this one - not because of the pose, but because of where it was shot from. You are shooting down at him. One of the things that separates a snap shot and a photograph is where the shot was take from. Shooting down at kids always lends itself to a snap shot look. Getting lower so that the lens is eye level, or even just below - particularly when shooting a cool kid look shot - makes a huge difference.

Next time try both angles, and see what a difference it makes.
