Hi all.
Just joined today. I found this site looking for Canon G12 tutorials on HDR.
I want to get into this, but need some guidance hehe.

I do know about the HDR function and that works ok. But I want to learn how to take those 3 images manually.

Anyone got some step by step tutorials?

Id also love tutorials on all other things on the G12. Maybe the G11 can be used as well. I dont know.

Thanks
Laffe

Do you have any tutorials on setting up those brackets everyone are taking about?

It's pretty simple. Use Av mode and set the auto exposure bracketing per page 102. I recommend +/- 2 stops exposure. Best to have the camera on a tripod and manual focus. I shot in RAW when making HDR images but you could use JPEGs. My HDR experiences are at http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/search/label/HDR (external link) .

Here's a link for a tutorial using Photomatix to create HDR images.

Read pages 102/103 in your G12 user guide for setting AEB. I recommend shooting in Av (aperture mode), so only your shutter speed changes during the over and under exposed shots (recommended by several good sources). I would also suggest getting Photomatix Essentials for about $30 to create a TIFF result and then complete processing in your normal photo editing software. I use this method with my G9, G11, and Samsung NX100.

Here are a couple good articles on HDR for your viewing pleasure.

Look under the section "RAW, Post processing and Printing" and the subsection "HDR" in this forum for more HDR info and discussion.
