I live in a Decent Size Apartment with Crappy Lighting. My 50 1.8 Helps a lot with that, But i have to Bump my ISO to 400-800 which i hate doing, and with some Party's coming up. I'm Looking to get a Flash. Keep in mind, I'm not looking to go all out here. I don't need the best flash in the world. Ill mainly be using flash indoors.

So my Question is, They have the 430EX on Amazon for $279. I CAN get it, But is there any Alternatives? As Canon tends to overprice their Products. I was thinking of getting two Flashes & a Wireless Trigger for that same Price, or around that Price Range. Or is the 430EX the way to go?

I'm not au fait with US pricing, but I think you can get 2 565ex flashes for that and control/fire them from your onboard 600d commander.

Canon 60D | Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 nonVC | Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 Macro | Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS | Canon 50mm f1.8 MkI | Carl Zeiss Jena DDR 135mm f3.5 | Loads of flashes 'n' stuff

Ok cool, I looked it up, Its roughly $140. Will it be as good as the 430EX? Not that it needs to be, But for the price i mean.

They can potentially be a bit of a lottery with reliability, but that's meant to be fixed in the revised model, but make sure you buy with warranty. Bank for buck wise if you want wireless ETTL they're hard to beat ( I have one along with my Canon flashes )

it depends on the features and price. I think your 600D can trigger the 430ex or YN565 with the pop-up so you may not need the wireless triggers. I get good results bouncing the light off a wall or ceiling with a cheap Yongnuo ETTL YN-465 ($60)

Why? 800 and even 1600 on your camera should be perfectly clean and usable.

The 430EX II is a great flash. If you only have one flash, IMO its best to have a canon, its when you start getting more for off-camera work, that canon isn't really worth it anymore.

(Yongnuo YN565EX)

They can potentially be a bit of a lottery with reliability, but that's meant to be fixed in the revised model, but make sure you buy with warranty.

This is supposed to have been fixed with new electronics (no idea which bits - capacitors, I guess!!) wef May 2012. Not that I've had any trouble at all with mine, in fact only yesterday I ordered another from http://www.ebay.com …ashes&hash=item1e67e63a9b (external link) They claim these are all revised models (in fact it was these folks who first widely publicised the revision) and they also come with a 12 month warranty. Just take it back to Shanghai ;) (I bet they do postal as well, never had to find out though).

If/when you get one (from wherever), swivel the head through 90° horizontally and you'll see a little sticker on the shoulder of the main body with a date code on which will tell you when it was made. Just for your peace of mind.

The Yongnuo YN565EX has a little more oomph than the Canon 430EX II which may be helpful if you decide to bounce the flash from anything. What it doesn't have is HSS (high speed synch) but as you "live in a Decent Size Apartment with Crappy Lighting" and you say you'll "mainly be using flash indoors.", that shouldn't be any sort of a problem for now. Maybe one day, maybe not.
