The two birds shown here are the parents of the chicks posted in my other thread.

All images captured with 1D Mark IV and 300/2.8L IS + 1.4xTC III.

Very nice, Harv, you got the light in just the right position for those in-flight shots. Also neat to get the pair in the sma etree, and you're right, the crop did hold up very well. So do you see much difference in the 1.4 III over the II?

Thanks a lot, Kraig. I'd be guessing at the distance. I'd say perhaps 100 to 150 feet. When shooting in-flights, I don't pay a lot of attention to distance. These were shot at 420mm on a 1.3 crop body and the images were cropped something in excess of 50%, if that helps.

Thanks a lot, Don. I try to get out early to shoot ospreys to avoid the harsh overhead direct sun which likes to blow out the white on top of the heads.

You know, I kept looking for the strings from where they were suspended from the ceiling in your studio, but cannot find them at all. Fantastic shots of some very beautiful Osprey. I cannot wait to see what you do with the young as they mature. Thanks for sharing these with us Harv.
