I wonder are there any urbexers here on this forum?
What's your favorite UWA lens for urbex, as we often have dark conditions, mostly we work with tripod, but a fast prime out of the hand is sometimes welcome.

I have 17-40 f4L, in past I tested 16-35 I & II but thet aren't completely sharp in the corners either so you have to stop down also, so f2.8 is no real advantage and it's not much faster anyway.

Would a 24 1.4L be a better idea (maybe sharper in corners?) as the 14 2.8 is too expensive. I also thought of Sigma 15-30 or 12-24 in past but I doubt this would be better than 17-40.

Ideal would be a faster UWA prime between 16-20mm as a prime is normally sharper in the corners and faster, but this doesn't exist I assume?

If you want sharp corners you should take a look at either Zeiss 21mm or Nikon 14-24 since neither of the Canon L zooms are really good at that or you can just save up for the ts-e 17mm

I've had good results at urbex with my Canon 18-55mm kit lens.

Urbex isn't an extremely taxing subject as buildings don't talk back. I love exploring old buildings, although I still need to get the measure of my 50mm against them.

you don't have to only shoot wide for urbex. my new favorite lens is the zeiss 50mm. things tend to not move much in urbex and lighting is usually natural, so a tripod is already a must. just use manual focus.

don't get a tilt-shift for urbex. not durable enough (had the knob come off a few times) and very hard to setup shots in near-dark conditions.

for wide, I use my 17-40mm and love it. sharpness isn't the only quality of a good photo.

that being said, I'm saving up for the Zeiss 21mm. I'm jealous of you being in Belgium, you guys have some amazing stuff to explore.

I don't urbex a lot and haven't been in a while but I quite like the combination of 17~40 and 24~105 is. A fast lens can be handy too, like a 50 1.4.

Well I doubt between 24 1.4L (I guess the II as version I isn't good?) but 24mm isn't really UWA, even on FF.

Zeis 21mm seems better, MF should be no problem, that's quiet an expensive one I think.

The TSE-17mm is indeed the widest of the 3 but also f4 like the 17-40, but more interesting for the perspective correction of building.

My favour goes to Zeis 21mm followed by 24 1.4 II.
Maybe i'll exchange my 17-40 + 15 2.8 for this, will see how much I use the fisheye, although sometimes it give great effects in big buildings or with special ceilings.

I don't have 17 ts-e but I have had the 24 for four years or so. Tilt shift lenses are quite handy depending on how you want to shoot.
