Hello,

Today my 7d stopped working properly. Suddenly, manual mode doesn't let me take a picture unless my lens is set to auto focus. Even then the LED screen doesn't show a preview, nor does it let me go into view mode or menu. Video mode doesnt work either. This is the case with all the manual modes (B, M, Av, Tv, P). Also, in these modes I cnanot use any of the small front buttons like WB, AF.drive ISO etc. However when I go to CA or auto mode everything works fine. This is a big issue.

I thought it might be the little 3v lithium battery dying.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Johnny

1)Make sure all switches are in the proper position.

2)Try a different CF Card to rule that out.

3)If you have a grip installed remove it and try with battery mounted normally in camera.

4)Remove the main battery and 3V battery and let the camera sit for a while to drain all power. Reinstall batteries and see if it corrected the problem.

5)Reset the camera settings to factory default and see if it corrects the problem.

6)Try flashing the firmware even if you have the most current one.

7) If nothing else works call Canon and start the procedure to send it off for repair.
