proportions are exaggerated on with wider focal lengths of course. You have to watch for that as a photographer. There are many unflattering ways to take a persons photo.

Also even if the subject was fat, and they say they look fat. I'd politely lie to them.. people don't want to hear they have a fat arse and I would generally choose angles that don't make them look bad.

Occasionally I'll sneak in one though :)

WIN!

Yes, people are getting larger. Wait until one of these whales with legs sits down next to on an airplane, and parts of them overflow into your seat. Not only are they big, but they stink. When flying, my fear is my appendages, I worry they'll get into a feeding frenzy and eat one of my arms.

Here's an article from NPR "Americans are fat and expected to get much fatter"

People are growing heavier and taller.

It's bothersome that, as rick_reno points out, fat people stink. It all balances out, though, because tall people smell really, really nice.

I did a shoot for Revlon Laos awhile ago. The girls were very typical of Lao girls, models or not. About 1.55 metres tall by about 42 kilos,, but they do have the nicest bums on the planet.

Curves would be nice once in awhile.

Lifestyle... everything is brought right to you. You get food from a drive-thru. Why go out for a run when you can just drive and get food and sit on your couch and watch TV?

It's not 'people are getting fatter'. It's the lifestyle is changing. The human body is setup to be outside and working. If you move it inside and have no activity the results are staggering. Get outside and do something. And the biggest thing is deep down inside our brain we want to eat... evolution has not moved this 'eat when you can' out of our mind. So with food pretty available now people over eat. Eat when they are bored. Then do nothing... and wonder why they are fat.

Get outside and do something.

Exactly! I used to go out and play in the street with my friends when I was a kid. My kids don't like leaving the house. Grrrr!

I decided to do something about myself and my son. We're not big time overweight but my son is barely a teenager and I wanted to get him off the couch. Got membership at the Y and started working out. Screw the sedentary lifestyle of the modern era.

Nice. Looks like you're well established in Laos. Congrats to both you and Pa.

Thanks.

I've been here nearly five years but have been coming here since 2003. Another five or six years should see us (my wfe and I) out.
