Well I think it is a Dark Morph Swainsons hawk, but any other opinions are welcome!

My bird book doesn't give me a positive yea or nay. The tail and wings look like a Swainson's, but they have a lighter belly than in your shot. Perhaps a juvenile, which seem to have somewhat darker belly's. I couldn't find anything else that seemed like a closer match.

Isn't bird identification fun? :)

Edit: Google images shows me one that is considered a "dark morph adult" that has the belly coloring of yours. I'll vote yea on the ID.

Love that harbour shot!

I've been so busy I've struggled to snap anything - so I'm going to keep my dull photos to myself - they're still on my flickr, but not worth looking at :-) Hope to come up with something more interesting soon!

Well now, to be fair, if you are going to advertise your coffee drinks as vegan/vegetarian, you can't go using food coloring made from beetle wings can you?

This is your typical May Day
International Workers' Day is the commemoration of the May 4, 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. The police were trying to disperse a public assembly during a general strike for the eight-hour workday, when an unidentified person threw a bomb at the police. The police responded by firing on the workers, killing four demonstrators.
Subsequently, the May Day Riots of 1894 occurred. In 1904, the International Socialist Conference meeting in Amsterdam called on "all Social Democratic Party organizations and trade unions of all countries to demonstrate energetically on May First for the legal establishment of the 8-hour day, for the class demands of the proletariat, and for universal peace."
http://en.wikipedia.org …nternational_Workers'_Day (external link)

What it has become is an excuse to riot and pillage. When the media ask the protestors what their message is, they get a short one-liner <we are the 99%!> or something, without being able to explain their cause.

I see it as like the Occupy movement, but while walking around.

I know what you mean. Once you find them, it seems like you see them there all the time. My Ospreys have a nest near where I work. This is the third year in a row they have come back to the same nest. I could sit there all day and watch them, and listen to them. They are very vocal.

I am making a concerted effort to not use them more than once a week. :)

Okay, I didn't know there was a rule that we didn't have to post the dull ones! Half of mine I would qualify as such.
