Loving these pictures - sorry not to be commenting individually but I'm falling way behind!

A little flood of pics from me, then, because I'm not keeping up and posting daily:

It sounds like all three of us are suffering from the same problem.

Thank you, I was rather pleased at how the swan shot came out! I like abacus' climbing wall too; for a while my kids were really into climbing and we were playing on this kind of wall loads!

You may have heard we are having a referendum in Scotland about independence. Some campaigning graffiti here...

@ Alan Potter, yes, it has been on our news over here. What is your stance on it, and why. If I may ask.

It seems on the surface to be a good thing. The one drawback I see is if there is a significant economic hit on your end. I don't know if there is or not, though.

The whole independence thing is tricky. A lot of it comes from the Thatcher / Reagan days, when wealth and power was massively centralised in London, and manufacturing industry decimated. Maybe much of that industry wasn't really viable, but the aggression and heartlessness with which the Thatcher government went about its task is still fresh in the memory of many Scots.

So Scotland, a naturally left-wing country, finds itself governed by a right-wing government that has only one representative (out of seventy-two) in the whole of Scotland.

Converting the scenario to US equivalents, imagine that you live in Arizona, and it is considering leaving the USA. It would mean that profits made in Arizona wouldn't go to those corrupt, self-serving b...ards in DC. But would AZ be able to stand on its own in the world? What happens if it doesn't become a new, wealthy country but tends more towards being a new version of Mexico? We don't know what the future holds... do you take the chance and assert your independence, or stay where it's tolerable though not great?

Up until about a week ago, the UK government thought it knew that the result would be "no". But the opinion polls are now within the margin of error, and the UK government is throwing in every trick in the book. Including some that are rather disreputable, if not actually illegal. Their panicked reactions are in fact turning me from "no" to "yes", and I fear they are having the same effect on many others too.

I still think it will go "no". But it will be close. And I think that the tide of history is such that - unless something changes - another referendum in twenty years time will definitely be a "yes". And if it is "yes" this time I will be shocked, but not surprised.

Anyway, back to photographs. I smashed my phone again yesterday - really p...ed me off

And tomorrow I will be taking part in a duathlon (run / cycle / run) - this evening I put the bike on the car ready for an early rise

Thank you for your perspective Alan. I appreciate hearing it from a local, rather than through the filter of our US media.
