I did some once before and got a much better result the first time I did it I think... But this was one of the better ones. I need a more consistent way to get smoke. Snuffing a candle and then snapping.. doesn't always give me a consistent result

A stick or cone of incense will provide a nice constant flow. All you have to do is disturb the air slightly for more interesting shapes. I also get my best results by lighting from directly underneath.

any ideas for something that will provide good smoke but not have a strong scent? I have some people that are sensitive to that at home so I prefer not to make things overwhelming

There are things called punk sticks (basically unscented incense sticks used for lighting fireworks).

Great day of pics here - that beautiful bird pic, the smoke photo (must try that some day), the cocktail from Michael and I do like the dramatic processing on Tim's image.
