I have a verbatim 32gb class 6 SD card right now. I tested the speed in a card reader with crystalmark and it reads at about 20MB/s and writes at 12.32MB/s.

Is this ok for my 60D or should I get something like a class 10 Sandisk with a write speed of around 45MB/s. I really don't do a lot of burst shots, but I do video and stills.

Just try it and see if it keeps up with your shooting.... Not really complex. Should be fine.....

Your video stream is 5.5MB/sec, so your card should be fine.

I use class 6 and class 10 and have never had a problem. For photos class 6 is plenty fine. If you shoot 720 video, you'll probably never have and issue. If you shoot 1080 then you could possibly run into problems with video stopping recording for write speeds, but you'll only know by shooting some test footage (let it run recording and see if it stops for write speed or stops on its own at the 10-12min cutoff)

He'll only have a problem with class 6 if the card does not perform up to the class designation. Class 6 is spec'ed handle 6 MB/s sustained write. As I said above, the video bit stream (even 1080p) on his 60D is 5.5 MB/s max.

Ok, thank you guys! saved me from buying another card :D. I tested my card and the absolute minimum was like 7.5 MB/s
