Great shot! How close were you to the subject? I've been pondering over the 100L, what's your impressions of this lens with the 5D3?

I would guess my lens was around 2 feet from its head. The mamba could not strick more than an inch straight ahead the way it was laying in the limbs. It it had more coiled body from which to strke...I would not have gotten that close. I would gotten out the 100-400. No shot is worth getting hit by a mamba....at least not to me.

100L is a very good lens that is worth the extra compared to non L. 5DIII is a great camera body! Excellent combo.

With the 5DIII I was shooting lions and cheetahs at dusk at ISO 6400. Something I would not try with 5DII or 7D.
