Taken with 5D Mark III, 30 sec @ ISO 1600

You could take multiple pictures and stack for more data and signal . Great start tho cause 30-sec shots are hard to get alot of data .

yes, I will do that next time. It wasn't possible that night has you might not see it but there was a lot of glow cause by the northern lights ( I am in BC). I managed to remove the glow through a painful editing process.
