I use the 1.4x II with great results and the 2x III which is great. Most people agree it's not worth the premium with the 1.4x to get the III over the II... But for the 2x, it is.

I would like to know this as well, I'm debating on getting the 1.4 III or 2x III.

If you get the 1.4, get the 1.4 version II, not version III.

Why's that? I read that the III is well built. Unless it doesn't matter?

In searching for answers since posting, I have learned, the advantage of the 1.4 III over the II is its better on the edges. It went on to say that if you use a cropped camera and you crop, it wont make a difference. Conversely if you use a FF it will make a difference..

From all the reading I have done thus far, if the ef 2 is what you want the III is better than the II. It went onto say the IQ is that of the 100-400 with the III

Maybe its time to see some images using these extenders, so if you have some images, would you kindly post them here or have links to images using various extenders..

I use the III 2x. really like it. IQ is very good. Only thing with using an extender 2x is you lose 2 stops of light and the AF speed decrease with 50%.

I have some pictures with the 70-200 II en III 2x on a 7D and 5D II
