That title should get some attention...

Not a trailer queen by any means. The girl (yes, you read it correctly) who owns it built it and rides it. My favorite chopper to date, and probably will be for a long time. Can never see this one too many times...this is a sample of the shots I've taken of it over the years...

I like the bike, some little fixes I would have done. Have the wheel facing away from the camera so the tread is not pointing to the lens. Remove the red bungie cord around the handle bars.

Imagining long legs, blue eyes and blonde hair :o

Thanks guys. Wheels...I don't typically fall for the "aim them this way or that way" stuff, not unless it's a particular type of shot. With bikes I just let the cards fall where they may because 99% of the time I take wheel shots, and I don't pay much attention to where they're pointed. The shots on the sidewalk were my spur-of-the-moment idea to have her put the bike there. It was a local cruise and we were talking, she said she was bored so I said we should go shoot the bike somewhere. Decided to just run it up on the sidewalk and shoot a few. Although I'm surprised I didn't include a wheel shot, I have a bunch of them from over the years...

The bungee cord...I'm sure it's there for a reason, and it's part of the bike, so no necessity to remove it. The shrubs, I though about it, decided not to bother. I figured they were far enough in the background to not be a bother, and I had already spent enough time cloning out sidewalk seams and junk on the sidewalk.

Not blond, but very attractive in my opinion...

Nice, thats a pretty B.A. bike. I've always wondered about those intake manifolds on these. Without an air cleaner wouldn't the carb get all choked up?

Admittedly I'm not all that keen on automotive and motorcycle stuff. My knowledge is in machine maintenance and building maintenance, cars and bikes typically baffle me. I've been known to fix a few things here and there on my own cars but normally I'm taking it them a mechanic.

However, I would take a guess that there has to be some type of "filter" or something in the intake somewhere, or all kinds of crap would be getting in there and causing all kinds of trouble. This one in particular I've never actually looked inside the tubes to see what's in there, but most bikes I see there's always an air filter of some kind. Some of them are pretty dang cool on their own too.

really like 4-8 in this set, that's an amazing paint job. back in the late 60's when i rode HD, i'd sometimes ride with a girl who rode one. she was good until we'd stop, she was a tiny thing and couldn't kickstart her bike. that one appears to be electric start...

I'm sure this is something super-obvious but I don't get it. I know what they are, and I've experienced it, but I don't get the connection here. But, that's not your fault, I'm typically a huge idiot when it comes to certain types of humor. And obvious stuff generally flies right over my head.

Thanks Rick. She seems to have a pretty firm grasp of riding the chopper, so far I haven't seen a single hint that she'd ever have any trouble. The paint was done by a local artist, Rich Keylard (external link), and he does amazing work.

Sorry, it just popped into my head!

OK, you took the time to build a rapport with the owner. Took the time to move to a better location. And then "just let the cards fall where they may" rather than turning the bars for a better angle on the wheel in #2, or moving the bars out of the way in #4. It's the little details that make for a better experience, no?
Maybe "Photographicus Interruptus" would have made my point better? ;)

I prefer to not abide by the "rules" of photography, because, quite frankly, I think they're useless and a tad ignorant. There's no such thing as rules when it comes to expression, and the bike shots look spectacular no matter which way the wheels point. As for rapport, I've known her for years, and moving the bike was both to get clean shots away from the cruise and to keep her from going nuts with boredom. It was spur-of-the-moment and I wasn't giving much attention to "proper" staging. I'm sure if I were to do a proper shoot I might nitpick the small, insignificant details a little bit better.

But I get what you're saying and I appreciate the input, don't let my response make you think otherwise.

I like the way this bike is posed, as the first thing I looked for was how the front and rear fenders were designed to fit the wheels, and this shows it well.

I've never figured out the reason why tires should be pointed away either, but on a motorcycle, if you turn the front wheel away, you are also going to lose the view of the front of the bike, headlight, forks, etc. Whenever I park my bike, I park it so that since the bike leans to the left on the stand, the front wheel points to the right for balance.

Exactly. Aim the wheel the wrong way on one of these long choppers and you run the risk of the bike falling. Plus there's really no reason why the wheels have to be aimed a certain way. On cars, for certain shots, yes, maybe. But bikes?? Nope.

rather than turning the bars for a better angle on the wheel in #2

Nothing wrong with the wheel position in # 2, turned either way any more and you lose the view of the fork/triple tree area.

I prefer to not abide by the "rules" of photography, because, quite frankly, I think they're useless and a tad ignorant. There's no such thing as rules when it comes to expression, and the bike shots look spectacular no matter which way the wheels point.

well said , couldn't agree more. Nice work on these by the way.
