Does anyone know what causes the shading on top of the 3 mountain top peaks in the third picture?

Are you talking about the snow? Or the light? One of those I would guess is your answer.

I can see it in the first picture, but not the third. There are also a few dust spots as sebastian already mentioned. I'm not sure what is causing them. Did you do any dodging or burning, and possibly strayed "outside the lines"?

To me, it looks like it's the (white) glow from using the Clarity slider in Lightroom...
If you use Lightroom, or use a program that has a similar slider, that'll do it every time.

Usually, if a person has it in their images they aren't aware, due to their monitors being set to where it doesn't show.
Normally, I can't see the shadow ones though, so that 'might be' something entirely different, I don't use Lightroom, so I can't really say.

Anyway, that's a possible cause, and the cure is to either have your monitor adjusted, or not be as heavy on the sliders.
That's hard to do though if you can't see 'em though, huh? heheh

EDIT:
To say, I do see the shadows you refer to though, and it's the same thing, you move the slider one way, you get the "glow", the other way, you get the shadows.
