Need an answer to an argument with a friend. He thinks if he shoots in RAW format, then the camera LED displays the shot in RAW format. I saw it isn't possible, and the camera must display in jpg.
Who's right?
This is important, as a beer and pizza go to him or I.

Thanks

You are correct.

The camera shoots the RAW image and then, in order to display it, converts it in accordance with the picture style set in the menu (hence why it is important to select a neutral picture style when shooting RAW).

That's right. The LED screen displays a jpg of the raw image manipulated according to the picture styles. That's one reason why some areas that flash indicating blown-out highlights on the LED screen actually contain information that can be recovered from the raw original in PP.

Thanks for the input. Had to have some 'unbiased' backup in order to score the beer & pizza.

HughR, I was born in Clayton NC, could stand atop our house and see the Thousand Islands bridge into Canada (1944) That date now looks like soo far in the past!

I just drove over that bridge last Friday going down to the US for a weekend in the Berkshire mountains in Massachusetts.

You guys have me thoroughly confused. You could stand on top of your house and see a bridge 500 miles away?

I think he meant "Clayton, NY", having ruled out "Clayton, ND", "Clayton NB", "Clayton, NH", "Clayton, NE", and "Clayton, NJ" as other possible typos. :{)#

I have a BIG LENS:)
Actually I do live in NC, but was born in Clayton NY, at Lake Ontario, where it flows into St Lawrence River. Beautiful area this time of year.

Could you be related to Sarah Palin? She can see Russia from her house in Alaska! :-)
