Got it with 5dmk3 and it seems to be working real nice. I was worried about all this softness and harsh bokeh thing.

Jul 17, 2012 08:11 | #6 MY FD50 1.4 is NOT soft. It's very sharp and does beautiful work. Problem is I never liked 35mm even when I shot film so I rarely use it. I'm thinking about getting an EF adaptor without optics so I can use it for a macro lens. Your pictures makes me think that the 1.4 will be enough. Going to be using this as a low light walk around lens when I go to Asia, as well as for video shooting. I have sigma 50mm f1.4 and it is really nice on my 5dc. Tested it against my co workers 50mm f1.4 and I couldn't mind much differences except canon 50mm was little faster to AF. Sigma is built much better though. Now after getting my own canon 50mm f1.4 I need to decide which one to keep. Fuji XT-1, 18-55mm

I wonder how much the 5D3 build-in lens optimization/correction actually helps (my reason for going with canon lens going forward). More research is needed. 5D Mk III & 7D | 430 EX II

My 1.4 is very sharp wide open, much better than the 1.8 was when wide open. I also got a 35 f2 and an 85 f1.8 and they are both very sharp too. It seems much better build quality than the 1.8 ever did too. Possibly a pricey update to the 50mm f/1.4 is on its way.
