OK, did a little flower photography at Wisley last weekend so a couple of images to share but effectively a slightly different 'take' on the same subject ~ which do you prefer? :D This is the wildflower meadow and is likely to reach its best in the next week or so???

Incidently, 7D with 24-105 and full frame PP'ed in LR and CS5

#2

I like both of them but if pushed to choose it would be #1.
#2 is fabulous too but the only distraction from me is the oof poppy as its so tall and obviously the red colour makes it stand out more even though its in the background.

oh and boy did we lug our kit around on that day, only to find out another entrance was yards away ;)

800mm on a 1D3 gets you this, http://www.flickr.com …5740994584/in/photostream (external link) plus a few others. Its a bit too far away.

Well first night at home over and done, all bar a bit of wind and the smoke alarm going off for the first time in the middle of the night for some reason, pretty uneventful.

Those on FB will have seen but some on here won't. Thanks for all the wishes, both my wife and Oliver are home safe and sound. All went rather quick in the end. In Hospital with minor contractions at 6pm, baby born at 11:2pm on 22 July.

What a terrific place! Spent all day there, and thanks to Mark I left my left gear at home and took the little Fuji X10. I would've died with perspiration carrying my gear around for six hours. Saw lots of Kingfishers, two families busy feeding their young. Brilliant!

Afternoon all. What a beautiful day it has been. Ive been to Brockhill Park in Hythe with Vels and Toby, as he has been doing bug hunting and camp making with the school. Its been the first time ive picked the camera up in months really, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the results are not as good as i would have liked, the practice was well needed.

I hope your all enjoying the weather, i still have a week and a half off before i return to my new position full time.

Im off out tonight for a few well needed beers with my Dad and brothers too.

Laurence I prefer the first shot, the meadow looks amazing.

Ian, Oliver looks very cute and well behaved so far :D not making naughty faces like Cooper is on facebook

Some great car shots everyone. Panning really isn't my forte I need to practise more!

Wayne, some great shots there, like the yellow flowers in the jar best, simple but effective!

Chris - c'mon we need to see the kingfisher shots!

A couple from a shoot I did today here with two dogs.

Rob, how do you get the war shots to look so authentic, I feel like I'm there sometimes.

Thanks for the kind words - I cant take all the credit though. The images wouldnt look anywhere near as authentic without the hard effort and the attention to detail put in by the reenactors themselves.

I just wait for the shot to look "right" before i press the shutter and put my own spin on the processing.

In fact this is the only genre of my photography that i really "look for the image" and move to locations angles where I anticipate shots to be. I guess its because i have been doing it for a while - in every other aspect of my photography i just feel that i am taking pictures of what's there and recording it.

I think this is what makes them so good though Rob. The more we do that and seek out the composition, the better the images get.

Hi Penel, yes wildflowers are geat to see and enjoy. As mentioned it was not in AFAIK its full glory so another visit may be on the books???

re Salukis ~ they have a delicate almost fragile look to them but as you say they are photogenic. You do seem to be able to show your subjects character in your image making :D
