New monitors finally installed and set-up.

LR and PSE 7 installed on the PC. Thought I'd go back and try a new workflow on some of the shots from the New Forest using the new monitors.

Better or worse?

Haha...in all seriousness, steep skiing is about getting a good rhythm, so it's hard to stop for pictures halfway through. Same reason why I don't have many good powder shots. And also due to the fact that stopping for pictures on a powder day = more people tracking up the freshies!

A few more from the archives...

Really lucked out on this shot. The sunrise looked like a bust until the clouds parted for maybe 15 seconds for a shaft of light to burst through:

I'm looking at getting some of those already I use their flashes and triggers and never had a problem.

One from today from a shoot with my favourite model and good friend Sian aka The Bullet Mistress.

Lovely portrait...............as for the hair shadow, would a silver reflector off to left of shot have reduced the shadow without blowing the rest of the edge definition n that side?

Astronomy is my other passion, and living in the mountains, I finally got to do it in real life (as opposed to reading about it or looking at pictures in a book). Got an 8" telescope for viewing and then added a 6" for astrophotography.

5. Shot with the 28-300L lens:

Nice to see available light band pictures and this one IMO is the standout one.

Andy, I do like these the best...............and no doubt the newer monitors will lift the whole PP user experience for you. I wish I had space for a second monitor!

I decided to treat myself to one of these for my birthday http://www.lensmaster.co.uk/rh1.htm (external link) hoping will be useful on both tripod & monopod??? The reports of it suggest it is good UK made product and a better price than the likes of RRS and Whimberley :)

Re: those new flash triggers that Sly posted about.

I found this linky on a Fred Miranda forum thread about them......worth a watch IMO as I understand so little about "them" http://www.youtube.com …=NTUuFGTHskY&feature=plcp (external link) for £60 if the flashes you have will work in both ETTL and manual mode via the camera settings control (only 7D & 5DmkIII mentioned) then maybe a non brainer???

Thanks, I used a white reflector for all the shots I did yesterday but got the shadow in some but not others a bit of fine tuning is in order the trouble is it's not something you see till it's on the computer in the processing stage. One more from yesterday.

Andy the grass infront of the nutatch seems to be the point of focus, I can't remember if anyone else mentioned it when you posted them first time round. It would definitley be worth micro adjusting your lens. Also your shutter speed is 1/80 when you are shooting at 400mm, your iso is 400 so it would be worth upping that so you can get faster shutter speeds.

Well the heaviest lens I will be using until I decide to hire a heavier one will my 100-400. FWIW my RC498RC2 balhead is very good but limited for quick "controlled" changes of position :( I am hoping the LM Gimbal will work well on a monopod as well, again for where you need stability combined with well controlled quick changes in following a moving subject???

I had a softbox lighting the background one as a side light and a beaut dish aimed at Sian with the reflector under her printing up so I'm not really sure how to solve the problem.

RE those new triggers ~ found the manual and page 4 says this:-

List of Type A cameras
Canon EOS 5D Mark II/5DMark III,1Ds Mark III,1D Mark
IV/1D Mark III,7D,60D, 50D,40D
/650D/600D/550D/500D/450D/1100D/1000D
List of Type B cameras
Canon EOS 5D,10D,20D,30D,300D,350D,1D,1D Mark II
Compatible ETTL flash list (support wireless remote
control through camera menu)
Canon 600EX(RT)/580EXII/430EXII/320EX/270EXII
YongNuo YN565C/YN468C(II)/YN467C(II)/YN465C
430EX/580EX or other par ts of the flash is not
supported remote control via the camera menu, need
to manually set the flash parameters.
※ When using general type manual flash or strobe
flash connect to PC port, flash output needs to be
set manually.
※ In this user manual, assumes that you are using the
type A camera and compatible ETTL flash, as for
type B/ C camera, please refer to page 22.

Seems to suggest EX versions are fully controlled???

Personally I not sure it will work with a monopod as it is not stable enough but fingers crossed it will work well with a tripod

Yes, monopod use is more of "suck it & see". As for 'normal usage' on a tripod, well being a zoom and Gimbals are all about body/lens being in neutral balance it will have to be locked off at the chosen zoom e.g. 400mm then adjusted in the Arca Swiss clamp for balance...............in that regard is why I hope a monopod will work i.e. no imbalance creating too much weight either rearward or forward of the monopod???
