love the crop on this one Dom, great shot.

Did you shooy this at high ISO by any chance? Or did you underexpose and have to push the blacks? Seems a bit crushed and blocky. Then again, im sure this is a small portion of a much larger original image.

Last couple of shots have been the cleanest and best posed shots you have posted - really liked them. This girl is obviously a bit of a muse for you.

Thanks Rob, no it wasn't shat at high ISO it's a very small part of a larger image that's what's caused the problems the original is a nearly full body shot this crop was just something we looked at because of the angle of her head in the original. Yes she is a bit of a muse I suppose but we work well together as Sian is a good friend we do work well together this helps I think.

Three day week for me:D

Hopefully it warms up a few degrees by the weekend! Are your new toys photography related?

Finally managed to get a copy of Advanced Photographer, last one in Bluewater we just need to arrange a magazine signing event :):)

I'm on a three day week now too! :D

yep - new toys are photo related, think it's about time - don't recall buying a lens or body in 2012 so it's well overdue!

Ahhh - I need to get the newsagent and secure a copy too, lets skew their readership figures!

Does Silverstone run special bus services from nearby train stations or anything for such events? Would love to go to something like this (and the Formula 1 race in June), but getting there from London using public transportation seems a bit tricky.

For the F1, Megabus is running a special. Here (external link)

Thanks all. As with much of photography, it was a matter of being at the right place at the right time. My only regret is that it was shot with an old Nikon Coolpix 5700 camera, so the JPEG image quality is pretty low and noisy (lot of JPEG artifacts).

Really like this collage -- nice and clean.

Astronomy is my other passion, and living in the mountains, I finally got to do it in real life (as opposed to reading about it or looking at pictures in a book). Got an 8" telescope for viewing and then added a 6" for astrophotography.

1. The image of Sombrero Galaxy had always fascinated me as a child, so I was happy to have shot it myself:

2. Hubble's Pillars of Creation was another image that in recent years rekindled my interest in astronomy, so I wanted to capture them myself:

3. The amazing thing about this image is that I shot it with a 70-200 f/4 lens on a 40D (mounted on a tracking telescope mount obviously):

4. Cool thing about this is that this is earthshine -- the moon being lit up by sunlight reflected off Earth.:

6. One of my last astro shots before leaving Colorado -- and I managed to capture a supernova; it is the bright cyan spot at about 3 o'clock of the centre (better visible in this comparison against a shot I took a few years ago (external link)):

Outstanding!

Thanks, I used a white reflector for all the shots I did yesterday but got the shadow in some but not others a bit of fine tuning is in order the trouble is it's not something you see till it's on the computer in the processing stage. One more from yesterday.
