hey guys - quick question if I may. . . . I bought my wife Cory the photo day at the "UK Wolf Conservation Trust" nr Reading (next weekend) she really favours primes with her favourites being the Tamron 90mm and the Canon 200mm 2.8 I have been trying to get her to try out the 24-105 or the 70-200 2.8 mkii

My question is - if you have been what do you recommend she takes - oh and she uses the 7D. Thanks in advance

.DAVID.

David Stallard wrote in post #15766075 (external link)
PS: could only get the one ticket for her so any ideas what / where I can go that's near by to it? Thank you all again

.DAVID. x

Hi David

I went in April 2011 and the wolf in my post above was taken there and looking at the EXIF every shot I took was with the 100-400mm with a goodly number at the max 400mm.

As for somewhere/something to do nearby...........I keep seeing brown sign for a Nature Park/Reserve in the Theale area when I visit a customer in Theale, just cannot recall the name??? Other than that not sure?

HTH :)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Just checked these on the PC's monitors Dom. Colour looks even more saturated
and the B+W looks great.

Would have loved to come to this, but I'll be returning from Istanbul that evening. Looking forward to the shots.

A few from the archives. Southern Utah has some of the most amazing landscapes I've ever seen anywhere, and it was one of the main reasons we moved from Chicago to Colorado about ten years ago...

morning all, phew what a week, shot a wedding on Saturday in a wet dull blizzard with Rich, Rob and Neil while I felt like I was going to be sick all day, not good, then 15hr days at work all week again which is really getting me down now, then told yesterday that im at work today and tomorrow but I can have Tuesday off so 3 days off in a row! I wont know what to do with myself...

Anyhow I actually managed to grab 1 whole hour yesterday at sevenoaks reserve to try out the 1DX on some critters, not great light but I thought I best share the 'duck' pic that you have to take by law with new kit, well its not actually a duck but a Great Crested Grebe but its close enough, these are with the 2x TC on my 300 then really cropped in, I figured yesterday in about 5 mins that I need a 500mm f4...

Looking at this on the laptop Dom, the B+W looks better but still has a slight red hue to it. The colour shot is good but a little over-saturated. Could well be the screen as I've discovered. I'll check them on the PC monitors when I get home and see if they look better there>

Nice capture, very natural, candid shot.

Box Brownie wrote in post #15765721 (external link)
@ Dom ~ overall I prefer the colour but as Andy says the saturation looks odd. In the B&W the lads left hand looks very odd, washed out & ghostly :(

B and W for me

Thanks chaps, both of these are presets the B+W is a HDR one in Silver Efex and the colour one is a film preset in Color Efex I used it to get the over saturated colours and to bring out the sky, which I did for the B+W one as well, or it just looked a bit dull.

Anyone here into horses?

Mark is a friend and near neighbour who despite shooting for the dark side, does produce some good work.

Lovely Grebe images :) that 1Dx sure has a lot of pixels to play with if that is major crop.

I took this a couple of days ago. There is something about this image I enjoy. It is not the best quality, as I was moving a bit, the dog was also moving and the lighting was complex and it was handheld! Tricky, but an enjoyable photo to capture.
